H2O - WTF is going on?
I'm in the middle of a rewatch (started last night, still not finished, because RL keeps interrupting), and I was again struck how much of a Macbeth figure Tom McLaughlin is (I mean, come on, Burnham Woods/Birnam Wood? Hit me over the head with symbolism much, Paul?). So, I decided to do a little searching and found this site, which talks not only about Shakespeare's influence on the movie, but also the connection between other PMs and McLaughlin, especially Pierre Trudeau.
There's a whole bit about the (obvious) connection between Tom's eulogy of his father and Justin Trudeau's eulogy of his. Very cool stuff (in fact, the whole Canadian Adaptation of Shakespeare Project is pretty cool). There are a couple of minor errors (Tom's mother isn't "unnamed"), but they've got the complex stuff right, as far as I can see.
